Campo - A Rehabilitation Journey
Doggy Tales
13 February 2024
Campo, a two-year-old Labrador/Greyhound rescue, was booked in for a four week Rehabilitation Program as he had a significant reactivity towards cars and men. Concerned about potential biting incidents, his owners sought assistance in addressing his behavioural challenges.
Doggy Challenge
The primary challenge presented by Campo's reactivity was the fear of potential biting incidents, posing risks to both Campo and others around him.

4-WEEK REHABILITATION
Our Approach
Upon admission, we conducted a comprehensive welfare check and behavioural assessment to understand Campo's issues better. During the initial days of the four-week rehabilitation programme, Steve, one of our skilled trainers, focused on establishing a bond with Campo, earning his trust. Subsequently, a tailored plan was devised to address Campo's specific needs and progress his rehabilitation journey effectively.
We exposed Campo to various triggering situations, such as busy roads and crowded pavements, as well as interactions with people, to gauge his reactions accurately. Through consistent monitoring, we identified and corrected negative behaviours while reinforcing positive ones. Steve's efforts in building rapport with Campo played a crucial role in facilitating his progress.
The Result
Through systematic exposure to challenging scenarios and targeted interventions, Campo exhibited remarkable improvement in his behaviour. By the end of the programme, Campo could walk alongside his owners in a calm and controlled manner, demonstrating a significant reduction in reactivity towards cars and men. The collaborative efforts of our team, coupled with Campo's receptiveness to training, contributed to this positive outcome.
Conclusion
Campo's case underscores the importance of specialised care and training for rescue dogs, especially during their transition to a new environment. The programme has given the owners the tools to continue with his training and progress, allowing them to build a lifetime bond with their dog.
